Dr. Darryl Alan Peal

Darryl's Story

Dr. Darryl Alan Peal serves as the Inaugural Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer(CDO) and Title IX Coordinator and member of the Presidential Cabinet at Northern Kentucky University (NKU). In this role, he works to create and foster an inclusive and engaging campus climate and oversees NKU’s diversity, equity and inclusion efforts. Darryl joined NKU from the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), where he served as the Managing Director for External Engagement and Strategic Partnerships. He was responsible for driving the Inclusion
and Human Resources’ vision and strategic initiatives through engagements and partnerships with the membership, sponsors and external stakeholders. Peal was also selected to be a 2022 Inaugural John R. Lewis Fellow by the Faith and Politics Institute in Washington, DC. Peal has an extensive work history in higher education, corporate and non-profit organizations. During his Higher Education career, he served as the Executive Director of Business and Community Economic Development at University of Minnesota, Dean of Students (Chief Student Affairs Officer and member of Presidential Cabinet) at Central State University, Director
of Minority Student Affairs at Ohio Wesleyan University, Assistant Dean of
Students/Coordinator of Ethnic Diversity at Otterbein University, Director of Counseling Services at Wilberforce University, Assistant Director of Health Education and Wellness at Ohio University, Director of Residential Life/Chief Student Conduct Officer at Wilberforce University and taught Organizational Management and Behavior and Black Studies as an adjunct faculty member.
He has also worked in public and private sector positions including but not limited to: President and Chief Executive Officer at the Ohio Minority Supplier Development Council (OMSDC) and served as Deputy Director, State of Ohio Equal Opportunity Division Department of Administrative Services. He earned his Master of Social Sciences from Ohio University, his Bachelor of Arts in Print and Broadcast Journalism and his Bachelors of Arts in Black World Studies from Ohio Wesleyan
University. Peal has a earned Doctorate of Ministry in Social Justice from Payne Theological Seminary. Peal is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., 100 Black Men of America.
