Gerald's Story

Dr. Gerald Jones is a recognized national speaker, corporate trainer,

Dr. Gerald Jones has over 20 years of experience working in Florida’s Higher Education System. In 2022, he was appointed Chair of the Florida College System’s Council of Student Affairs, serving in an advisory capacity to all 28 FCS Presidents on the issues impacting student success.

 

Dr. Jones is a notable expert in student development theory, DEI, and guided pathways. Recently, he was a featured panelist for the Chronicle of Higher Education’s segment on “Closing the Equity Gap in Student Success.” He has contributed written opinions for the “Diverse: Issues in Higher Education” magazine, the preeminent source of critical news, information,and insightful commentary on the full range of issues concerning diversity in American higher education.

 

Currently, he is a member of the National Advisory Council for the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity in Higher Education (NCORE), an organization designed to raise awareness of race related issues in today’s higher education ecosystem.

 

A native Floridian from Palatka, Florida, Gerald is a three-time graduate from the University of Central Florida, receiving his Bachelor in Political Science, Master of Public Administration, and Doctorate of Education respectively. While at UCF, he became a member of the Xi Iota Chapter of the Alpha Phi Alpha, Fraternity, Inc., in the spring of 1997, and later continued his service as a member with the Delta Xi Lambda Chapter.

 

Today, he is a recognized national speaker, corporate trainer, and conference panelist whose clients include: The Environmental Protection Agency, Siemens Energy, Texas A & M University, Loyola University Chicago, The United States Veterans Affairs, and Blacks in Government National Conference, to name a few. He was named by the Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities (APCA) Campus Magazine as a Top Diversity Speaker in 2010.

 

Through his GetFIT framework, he is assisting agencies promote a positive work environment rooted in respect within an ever-changing diverse workforce. Dr. Jones is the author of two books, “Together On One Accord,” & “Speak Those Things.” He’s finishing his latest book, “The Indefatigable Way” – Developing a culture of high performance.
